Of course you can’t step to this event unless you’re going to be in Portland, but there’s some tangential design ephemera in this post that you could dig.
The second of the Tokyo Design Symposium that John Jay and PNCA were involved in last year is underfoot at PNCA, where, incidentally, I took a life drawing class last year that involved the weirdest belly button I’ve ever seen. Really though, it was like the size of a pancake and as flat. Eeewww.
Anyhow, I didn’t go to that first symposium because of a work conflict, but I’m all over this one.
Teruo Kurosaki from idée is here this year. They have a showroom in Tokyo and a catalog.
Idee is kind of somewhere between Muji and Milan’s hyper-theoretical/conceptual architecture group called Superstudio. xxxtra dope. step.
