Phoenix is decidedly beige. My sister lives in Scottsdale which is beige with a platinum lining. Turquoise is ubiquitous (eh, uh- ubiquiturquoise???), as is identity theft. Check the NY times article from earlier this week: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/30/us/30identity.html

As an American trained in LARGE scale living, it's hard to know where my personal space stands in the global economy. Granted I've retrained myself after trips to Japan and some city living, but I couldn't frank with that Airbus standing room only business. A design question- wouldn't it occupy the same amount of space to have the passengers horizontal rather than vertical? And wouldn't we all much prefer to be lying down in our own private capsule than standing next to a stranger? The capsule hotel model seems perfect for airplane cabins.

[...] Theory is wonderful, but in reality, I think this site is an example of doing something because it can be done, not because it should be done. Spending a couple minutes looking at TA Live, and reviewing the “moblogs” of the management team absolutely bored me to tears. It’s not that the management seem like uninteresting people, it’s more that their blogs are like watching paint dry a rash spread on your arm: boring, annoying, yet mostly non-life-threatening. The fault lies in the lack of direction and unintended fragmentation of a personal blog. I want my friends/family to go to one place to see all my dumb posts, photos and anything else. I don’t want to send anyone hither for my moblog, or over there for my photos. Build a service that integrates with all the major blogging tools and I’m in. I’m no less guilty of inducing yawns than the next blogger, but I think I will henceforth stay away from the “here’s the gorilla booger I ate for lunch” tip. You can thank me later. [...]

Spore is definitely impressive from a techonology aspect regardless of how much fun it will be actually play. The demo on Google leads me to think that Spore will be Will Wright's zenith. If that is the case then Spore will probably be addictively fun to play.

Still, I'm a tad skeptical about the gameplay aspect due to Spore's vast scope. I hope it doesn't end up being a watered down suite of Spore's inspirations such as Civilization, Populus, Sim City, Warcraft, etc.

Then again, Will Wright is one bad mutha so maybe I should have a little faith. Really, how could mating with a fellow 3 legged beast not be fun?

[...] A little while ago I posted a little blurb about procedural generation as it would exist in Will Wright’s upcoming game Spore. With the arrival of this year’s Game Developers Conference in beautiful San Jose comes a very excellent demonstration by the master himself. Check out the personal walkthrough by Will Wright on Google Video. [...]

The Pavement song on Terror Twilight called "Cream of Gold" includes the line- “I dream in beige why’d you leave me so far now”. Prime form for Steve Malkmus (Portlander) nonsensensical lyricism, and the song is not half beige.
